Start with the fact most course pages skip: no single body issues an official Forward Deployed Engineer certification. There is no FDE equivalent of the AWS Solutions Architect exam that every employer recognises.
What does exist is a mix of three things. There are long, project-heavy programmes such as the Scaler AI Forward Deployed Engineer Program and institute-backed certificates from IIT Delhi and IIT Roorkee. There are self-issued exam badges from bodies such as GSDC and ADaSci. And there are adjacent cloud and vendor credentials that hiring managers already know.
This guide lists all of them, explains what each one is, and ranks them on the thing that decides FDE hiring: whether you finish with production work you can explain in an interview.
Does an Official FDE Certification Exist?
No. No accreditation body or industry consortium publishes a standard FDE credential, and none of the companies that hire FDEs in large numbers ask for one.
GSDC and ADaSci each sell a “Certified Forward Deployed Engineer” title, but these are their own credentials, not university or industry standards. Palantir runs Foundry certification exams, though registration is login-gated and aimed at customers and partners. IIT-backed certificates carry an institute name, but they certify completion of a course, not a professional standard.
So the better question is not “which certificate is official” but “which programme leaves me with the projects and skills an FDE interview tests”. The ranking below is built on that question.

How We Ranked Them
We scored each option on five points: the amount of live teaching, the depth of the production syllabus, whether projects are specified and reviewed by a person, whether pricing and terms are published, and whether the credential is recognised for what it claims to be.
The Scaler FDE course ranks first because it leads on the first three points by a wide margin. It runs for 12 months with 197 live sessions, covers the full delivery stack from legacy SQL data to AWS deployment and incident response, and has learners build five specified projects for one continuous simulated client. It also includes 14 graded assessments and 18 communication classes, which address the client-facing skills that pure engineering courses leave out. IIT Delhi ranks second for its 145 contact hours, five reviewed builds and an IIT name. Options 7 and 8 are not FDE certifications, but they appear because readers ask about them.
The Best FDE Courses in India, Reviewed
1. AI Forward Deployed Engineer Program: Scaler
The Scaler AI Forward Deployed Engineer Program with Specialisation in Applied AI is the longest and most hands-on option in this list. It treats the whole year as one client engagement: learners join a simulated company, Meridian Retail, on day one and build its systems module by module.
| Detail | Value (October 2026) |
|---|---|
| Fee | ₹3,99,000; no-cost EMI from ₹9,791/month |
| Seat booking | ₹20,000 upfront commitment |
| Duration | 12 months, 197 live sessions across 14 modules |
| Next cohort | October 2026 |
| Assessments | 14 graded assessments, 10 hands-on labs, 18 communication classes |
| Eligibility | Software, data, backend, platform and solutions engineers, SDETs, consultants and tech leads with 1 to 8+ years of experience |
| Certificate | AI Forward Deployed Engineer Program completion certificate from Scaler |
What you build. Five major projects, each tied to the same client:
| Project | What it involves |
|---|---|
| Secure Client Data Platform and Legacy Ingestion | Bringing messy legacy data into a secure platform with SQL, PostgreSQL, DuckDB and production Python |
| Production Order-Management Backend | Orders, payments and real-time systems with FastAPI, Kafka and Redis |
| Live Ops Dashboard | A client-facing interface in React and TypeScript |
| Black Friday Scale Redesign | System design for peak load, then deployment on Docker, Kubernetes and AWS |
| Capstone: Brand-New Client, End to End | A full simulation of a new client engagement, presented on Demo Day |
Syllabus. The 14 modules run from the FDE launchpad (role, SQL and legacy data) through production Python, backend systems, frontend engineering, production RAG for customer support, agents and enterprise integration with LangGraph and MCP, system design, AI architecture at scale, Linux and networking, Docker and Kubernetes, AWS deployment with Terraform, reliability and disaster recovery, security hardening and incident response, and a final hiring-readiness module. Along the way there is a timed RAG build, a red-team war room, an AWS security assessment and a live incident drill.
Mentors and faculty. Each learner is paired with a 1:1 mentor; the mentor bench includes FDEs currently working at Palantir, Databricks, Sarvam AI, EXL and ConveGenius.AI. Teaching is led by Scaler co-founder Anshuman Singh, Naman Bhalla and Shivank Agarwal.
Career support. Resume reviews, mock interviews, system-design interview simulation, placement assistance and access to a community of 37,000+ alumni. Recorded content stays available for life.
Best for: an engineer with one or more years of experience who wants to cover the full FDE stack, practise the client-facing side of the job and leave with a portfolio built around a realistic engagement.
Not for: someone who only wants a badge this quarter, or who cannot commit to a 12-month schedule.
2. Advanced Certificate in AI Forward Deployed Engineering: IIT Delhi (InterviewBit Varsity)
A six-month weekend programme with an IIT Delhi association, 145 contact hours and five reviewed builds.
| Detail | Value (October 2026) |
|---|---|
| Fee | ₹1,65,000 + 18% GST; EMI from ₹9,897/month |
| Payment | ₹1,000 application fee, ₹15,000 first instalment |
| Duration | 6 months, 145 hrs: 76 live, 38 self-paced, 31 capstone and lab |
| Cohort | Applications close 15 Oct 2026; starts 17 Oct 2026 |
| Refund | 80% within 15 days, excluding tax; none after |
| Eligibility | STEM graduate or tech professional |
The five builds run from a first deployed AI tool in week 4 to a final portfolio project defended before an expert panel. The syllabus covers RAG, agentic systems, LLM evaluation, LLM security and deployment on Bedrock, Azure OpenAI and Vertex. The certificate is an e-certificate from CEP, IIT Delhi, and the programme states that it does not offer placement assistance or alumni status.
Best for: a Python-literate engineer who values an IIT name and can study on weekends.
Not for: learners who want placement support, frontend and infrastructure depth, or a longer runway.
3. PG Certificate in Forward Deployed AI Engineering: IIT Roorkee (via Futurense)
The lowest-cost IIT-backed route at ₹45,000 plus GST and a ₹5,000 non-refundable registration fee. It runs for three months with about 85 hours of weekend live sessions, and campus immersion costs roughly ₹10,000 extra. The six modules are directed by Prof. Gaurav Dixit and accept freshers with basic Python. When last checked, the cohort showed “Application Closed”.
Best for: learners who want an IIT certificate with the lightest weekly load.
Not for: anyone who needs real deployment depth; 85 hours is an introduction.
4. PGP in FDE and Applied AI Solutions: FDE Academy
An eight-month, 32-week programme at 14 to 18 hours a week, with live weekday and weekend sessions, a two-day Goa retreat and 80 seats. It runs a technical track alongside a consulting-delivery track. The fee is not published, and the IIT element is an add-on certification phase in months three and four rather than a named partner across the programme.
Best for: people with time for a heavy schedule who want consulting practice.
Not for: fee-sensitive buyers who want to compare prices upfront.
5. Forward Deployed Engineer Course: School of Core AI
₹65,000 for a five-month live course with two years of recording access. The curriculum follows a client engagement: discovery, solution design, AI engineering, deployment, then evaluation and handoff. The provider states that the certificate is not government, university or internationally accredited and that career outcomes are not guaranteed.
Best for: engineers who want live, delivery-focused teaching at a moderate fee.
Not for: anyone who needs a recognised name on the certificate.
6. AI FDE Program: CodeKerdos
Priced at ₹89,999, this live course packs roughly 70 hours into 13 modules, adds a 12-hour capstone, and keeps the recordings available permanently. Topics include production Python, APIs, AWS and Azure, RAG, agents, enterprise integration and security. Mock interviews and placement assistance are offered, but no outcome data is published.
Best for: a short live course with interview preparation.
Not for: learners who want a long cohort or detailed project feedback.
7. Cloud and AI Vendor Certifications (AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft)
| Credential | Fee | Format |
|---|---|---|
| AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate | $150 | 130 minutes, 65 questions |
| Google Cloud Professional ML Engineer | $200 plus tax | 2 hours, 50 to 60 questions |
| Microsoft Azure AI Engineer (AI-102) | Priced by country | Exam AI-102 |
These are the credentials employers recognise without explanation. They test cloud architecture and ML knowledge, not discovery calls, integration with a client’s systems or delivery under pressure, so do not present them as FDE training.
Best for: a cheap, recognised signal next to real project work.
Not for: learning the FDE role itself.
8. Palantir Foundry Certifications
Palantir certifies Foundry Data Engineers, Application Developers and AI Engineers through timed exams on a login-gated portal, and no price is published. Accenture and Deloitte list these as “preferred” in their Palantir FDE postings, behind three or more years of data engineering and hands-on Foundry work.
Best for: engineers already inside a Foundry customer or partner.
Not for: open-market candidates, who usually cannot register.
9. Certified Forward Deployed Engineer (CFDE): ADaSci
$164.99 for 30 hours of self-paced content across seven modules and a one-hour, 60-question proctored exam. Retakes cost $20. A separate CFDE Pro live track at $249 adds weekly code submissions and reviewed builds. No external accreditor is named.
Best for: self-starters who want a low-cost syllabus.
Not for: anyone who needs human review or wide employer recognition.
10. Certified Forward Deployed Engineer: GSDC
$400 (list price $800) for 50+ hours of self-paced video, some live sessions, a capstone, and a final exam of 40 questions in 90 minutes (pass mark 65%, one retake free). GSDC is accredited as a personnel certification body under ISO/IEC 17024. That accreditation covers how the body runs its exams, not whether employers value the badge, and a multiple-choice paper cannot test judgement in a messy client situation.
Best for: learners whose L&D budget or a recruiter filter rewards a badge.
Not for: learning the job.
11. Forward Deployed Engineer Tracks: Isha Training Solutions
Short live courses at ₹9,900 for 30 hours, including a Salesforce track covering Flow, Apex, Data 360 and Agentforce. These are Salesforce platform skills and do not carry over to FDE roles at AI product companies, Palantir or Indian AI startups.
Best for: people working in the Salesforce ecosystem.
Not for: engineers aiming at AI-product FDE roles.
Learning for Free: What You Can Do Without Paying
Every syllabus mentioned here is public. Palantir Learning is free, and AWS, Google Cloud and Microsoft publish free exam-prep paths. A paid programme does not sell information; it sells a schedule, reviewed projects and people who hold you to deadlines.
- If you have already shipped production systems and can study alone, start free.
- If you have started a self-study plan more than once and dropped it, pay for structure and review.
A good first project: build a retrieval system over documents you did not write, deploy it publicly, measure its accuracy with an evaluation set and log what each query costs. That one project will carry more weight in an interview than any badge in this list.
Will a FDE Certification Get You Hired in India?
On its own, no. Recruiters screen FDE candidates on three things: production deployment experience, projects they can walk through in detail, and how they handle unclear requirements from a client.
What live job postings ask for. An Accenture Palantir FDE posting asks for three or more years of data engineering, at least a year of Foundry or Gotham, applied AI experience, cloud and Python, with certifications marked “preferred”. A Deloitte posting asks for three or more years of engineering, a year of production GenAI work and 50% travel, with no certification requirement at all.
These are project outcomes, not exam topics. Accenture wants production code on large datasets and the ability to explain trade-offs. Deloitte wants architecture choices that balance quality, safety, latency and cost. A 90-minute multiple-choice test cannot produce either. This is why the Scaler FDE programme is ranked first: its graded projects, timed builds and incident drills are designed around the same evidence those postings ask for.
Indian pay, with sources. Glassdoor India shows an average of about ₹13.5 lakh from 42 submissions. Levels.fyi shows a median near ₹16.8 lakh from a small sample. TeamLease Digital, speaking to Inc42 in May 2026, put entry-level FDE pay at ₹9 to 12 lakh and mid-level at ₹25 to 40 lakh, with 230 to 270 open FDE roles in India. The samples are small, so use these as a guide, not a forecast.
The certificate records that you finished a course. The projects are what get you hired.
Frequently Asked Questions
Should I add an FDE certificate to my resume and LinkedIn?
Add it to LinkedIn, where recruiters search by keyword. On your resume, lead with what you built. A line about a deployed RAG system with measured accuracy is more convincing than a certificate title.
Can a QA, support or testing engineer move into an FDE role?
Yes, and it is a common path. You already understand production incidents and stakeholders. The gap is owning production code, so start by turning one manual process into tested, deployed code. The Scaler FDE course accepts SDETs in its 4 to 8 years experience band.
How is an FDE different from a solutions engineer?
A solutions engineer supports the sale and usually hands over once the deal closes. An FDE owns the outcome in production. Solutions engineers already have the client communication skills; the move is mostly about writing and maintaining production code.
Is forward deployed engineering a technical dead end?
It can be, if the role is mostly demos and prototypes. If you own deployed systems, evaluation and integrations, your technical depth keeps growing. Ask in interviews how much of the work reaches production and who maintains it.
How much travel do FDE roles need?
More than most engineering roles. Deloitte lists an average of 50% travel and Accenture says 0 to 100% depending on the client. Remote FDE roles exist but are uncommon.
What if the cohort I want is closed?
Ask for the waitlist and the next start date in writing. Use the gap to build a prerequisite skill, such as deploying a small Python service. Do not switch to a different programme only because one cohort filled up.
Will my employer pay the fee?
Often, if you ask. Link the course to a project your team struggles to staff and share the syllabus rather than the marketing page.
How long until I am job-ready?
If you can already deploy production code, three to six months of focused work is realistic. If not, budget extra time. The limit is usually not the syllabus but finishing two or three projects you can defend in detail.
Is GST included in these fees?
Usually not. Many providers quote the base fee and add 18% GST, which adds close to ₹30,000 on a ₹1,65,000 course. Confirm the final payable amount before budgeting.
What about refunds?
Policies differ widely. For example, IIT Delhi pays back 80%, minus tax, only for withdrawals in the first 15 days. Ask every provider for its refund policy in writing before you pay.
Our Recommendation
If you want one programme that covers the full FDE stack, gives you a year of live teaching and mentors who do the job today, and ends with a portfolio built around a realistic client engagement, choose the Scaler AI Forward Deployed Engineer Program. The programme is part of a ₹25 crore Scaler initiative to build a pipeline of 10,000 enterprise AI engineers..
